A little history...

After several years of behind-the-scenes work, Montreal's sports community now has a flagship organization to represent sport on the island of Montreal: the Conseil du sport de Montréal.

Officially launched on December 3, 2020, on the occasion of the 2020 Montreal Sport Summit, this new entity for regional sport will support organizations that carry sports development, from discovery to excellence, across the entire island of Montreal. In particular, it will serve associations, clubs, Montreal multisport organizations, sports federations and sports programs at schools, colleges and universities. As of January 1, it will also integrate the high-performance sports programs and services offered by Excellence sportive de l'île de Montréal (ESIM).

In early 2021, ESIM will become a program within the Conseil du sport de Montréal. The mandate of the Centre régional d'entraînement multisport (CREM) remains unchanged, and the ESIM program will continue to serve the territory's identified athletes and high performance training groups.

Since September 2022, ESIM has been known as Montreal's Sports Excellence.
