A little history...

After several years of behind-the-scenes work, the Montreal sports community has created a flagship organization to represent sports on the island of Montreal: the Conseil du sport de Montréal.

Officially launched on December 3, 2020, during the Montreal 2020 Sport Summit, this new entity for regional sport will support organizations that carry sport development, from discovery to excellence, on the entire island of Montreal. It will serve associations, clubs, multi-sport organizations in Montreal, sports federations and sports programs in schools, colleges and universities. It will also integrate, as of January 1st, the high performance sport programs and services offered by Excellence sportive de l'île de Montréal (ESIM).

ESIM will therefore become a program within the Conseil du sport de Montréal in early 2021. The mandate of the Centre régional d'entraînement multisport (CREM) remains unchanged and the ESIM program will continue to serve identified athletes in the territory as well as high performance training groups.

Since September 2022, ESIM has been known as the Montreal Sports Excellence.
