Complementary activities for the Du sport en plus program

The aim of this component is to offer activities for young people aged 12 to 17 in participating sports clubs.
This
s activities, in the form of conferences or practical workshops, will cover the following themes:

    • Leadership
    • Managing emotions
    • Conflict resolution
    • Strategies for coping with difficulties
    • Stress management or relaxation
    • Concept of pleasure
    • Equity, diversity and inclusion

Through these activities, young people can learn new concepts that they can apply to their everyday lives.

Ahmed Yves Douhou OLY

  • About Ahmed Yves Douhou :
    Ahmed Yves Douhou is an Ivorian-French-Canadian entrepreneur, author and lecturer who has had a remarkable career. He left his native Côte d'Ivoire at the age of 17 to embark on a high-level sports career in France.
    He took part in three Olympic Games and five World Championships in athletics. After winning the world title in the 4 x 400-meter relay with the French team in Paris in 2003, he was twice honored by French President Jacques Chirac. Today, he guides, advises and accompanies the sports and business communities, offering workshops and conferences on well-being and performance.

Dany Trudel

  • About Dany Trudel:
    Growing up in a sports environment, at a very young age Dany Trudel used sport as a lever to grow, break down barriers and develop a no-holds-barred mentality. Curiosity and resilience led him to work for over 26 years in large corporations in Canada and abroad. There, Dany developed her expertise and passion for developing human potential and leadership. She created her coaching company and startup in 2020 to help a wider community of professionals and young athletes reach their highest level. She has trained and coached over a thousand people. She has lived in the east end of Montreal for over 20 years, and her children have all played soccer for clubs in the region. She is a basketball athlete and has played until 2019.
  • Workshop: ACTIVE TON LEADERSHIP
    Interactive workshop to help young athletes better understand and recognize leadership, the different styles and their impact, and how they apply to their sporting reality. To capitalize on the benefits of positive leadership in the dynamics and success of the team and the personal development of young athletes.With a playful formula that supports young people's overall development, this workshop uses dynamic activities and short reflections to initiate and stimulate their own leadership.
  • Workshop: CONFLICT RESOLUTION
    An interactive workshop that enables young athletes to reflect on the reality of conflicts in everyday life and in sport, the emotions they arouse, and to understand that there are several ways of resolving them. To learn that conflicts also have benefits and can be a source of success for the team and the young athletes when they are well managed.With a playful formula that supports young people's overall development, this workshop uses dynamic activities and short reflections to introduce them to different modes of conflict resolution depending on the situation, as well as offering them a simple tool to help them self-regulate.

David Côté-Dion

About David Côté-Dion:
David Côté-Dion has been a psychoeducator for over 18 years, working with young people, adolescents and their families. He practiced in a youth center before transferring to schools in the Anjou and Montréal-Nord areas. He then set up a branch of the Bien dans mes Basket program at Gérard-Filion school in Longueuil, and is now owner and psychoeducator of the Centre des Ils et des Elles clinic in Varennes. Based on a playful, interactive approach, David continues to work with various civilian and school sports groups to support the integration of children with special needs.

Workshop: ADAPTATION STRATEGY
The objective of the coping strategies workshop is to awaken young athletes' awareness of how to deal with defeats, obstacles and challenges in sport, so that they learn to remain in a position of resilience. The workshop is intended as a reflection on performance in sport, where athletes can experiment with reflective practice, perception bias and factors leading to resilience. The workshop takes the form of a group exchange including 3 exercises to deepen their reflections.

Workshop: CONFLICT RESOLUTION
The Conflict Resolution workshop is a fun activity where young people experiment with teamwork and cooperation to practice how they deal with conflict. Following a short theory session, participants will build a catapult, projectiles and a totem pole using recycled everyday items. Teams will then test their creations, trying to accumulate points for each projectile that hits the totem pole of the opposing teams.

Workshop: EMOTION MANAGEMENT
The Emotion Management workshop introduces the athlete to the influences of psychology and neurobiology in the practice of his or her sport. It introduces the notion of the body's biological reactions, with an overview of the role of certain hormones in interaction with the role of our emotions during a competitive game. The basic principles of mental preparation and out-of-game training for managing emotions are also covered. The workshop is more theoretical in nature, and includes an exchange circle on the notions seen, reminding us of the need for social support in this type of situation.

Workshop: STRESS MANAGEMENT
The workshop on stress management for young athletes is designed to be dynamic and interactive. Through the presentation of educational notions on stress and anxiety, some young athletes will experiment with activities demonstrating the effect of stress and how to deal with it, in order to better deal with this very common reaction in the population. Children taking part in the demonstrations will be fitted with a heart rate monitor to biofeedback their reactions.

  • About Scott Simons:
    For the past twenty years, Scott has dedicated his life to health and wellness. His mission is to inspire daily practice. To fulfill his mission, he began by co-founding two non-profit organizations: the Padua Community Wellness Center in 2004 and DESTA Black Community Network in 2006. He then created Organik Santé Corporative in 2006 to support the health and well-being of companies and their employees across Canada.
    Scott has also acquired over 3,000 hours of health and wellness training and has been teaching yoga and meditation since 2009, coaching health since 2004 and giving over 500 talks in schools, community centers and to Organik clients.
  • Workshop : ENERGY!
    This workshop offers simple, accessible and effective solutions for finding inner strength, balance and mental clarity. Scott has developed a conference to support both sports teams and work teams, focusing primarily on the fun aspect. The objectives of this workshop are to increase energy levels throughout the day, to improve concentration and productivity, and to equip young people for a greater sense of relaxation.
  • Workshop : DEMYSTIFYING STRESS MANAGEMENT!
    During this conference, Scott will open his wellness toolbox to share his simple, accessible and effective solutions for managing your stress effectively and finding your energy, balance and mental clarity. In this interactive and dynamic conference, you'll discover :
    - The importance of optimal health: understanding the basics and implementing them
    - How to overcome stress and its impact on your brain
    - The importance of relaxing and regaining mental and physical balance
    - The secrets of motivation and pleasure

Aimed primarily at children and teenagers, the main objective of Jouez gagnant is to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity among young people. Team Québec athletes and coaches are invited to deliver their message at free conferences organized across Quebec by schools, municipalities (day camps, recreation and sports departments), sports organizations (clubs, regional associations, sports federations, events) and community organizations.
